Zach Baer

Pelagic Leader

Zach has been inspired by nature since he was old enough to walk through the fields, streams, and woods of his family farm on the Delmarva Peninsula. His passion for birds began in middle school through an afterschool program designed to introduce youth to birding, conservation, and ecology. Zach has a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from UC Berkeley and works on creating a more sustainable society. In his free time, he organizes and leads pelagic trips for Hillstar Nature. Zach’s other interests include hiking, basketball, skiing, and fishing and he loves enjoying these activities with his wife and two boys.
