Patrick McGill

Guide

Patrick was born and raised in Philadelphia and has been interested in nature his whole life along with his identical twin brother. In 1993 he received a bird feeder and a Peterson's Field Guide to Birds as a Christmas gift and he has flocked to birds since. Patrick spent summers growing up in Cape May, NJ and the Pocono mountain region of PA where his passion for birds took hold. Patrick went to W.B Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences known locally as the Philly Farm School and there he studied Horticulture and became interested in native plants and 'birdscaping' and learned how much habitat, birds, and plants were all connected. Patrick considers himself an Urban Birder and has been focusing on Philadelphia Big Years which is something he never thought possible as a young birder not realizing how much great habitat and species could be found in urban landscapes. Patrick is on the Council for the DVOC - Delaware Valley Ornithological Club and he leads local walks for BirdPhilly. Patrick has taken many trips to Canada and Mexico for bird watching and is looking forward to exploring new places. Patrick's passion is learning and sharing his love of birds with others.
