Jeff Kenney

Guide

Jeff Kenney was introduced to birds by his dad at a very young age. While he didn't always appreciate being woken up before sunrise to go "in pursuit" of pileated woodpeckers and barred owls, those early mornings instilled a passion for birds and the outdoors that continues to this day. He started his life list in December 1994 after receiving the Cornell “Birder’s Life List and Diary” that year for Christmas, which he still has to this day.

As a dedicated state lister, Jeff loves exploring the forgotten corners of Pennsylvania with his girlfriend Angela, and he became one of the few to crack 300 species in one year in the state in 2023. Their adventures the last few years have taken them across Pennsylvania, and the country, in search of interesting birds in new places.

Jeff currently resides in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, with his two dogs Vita and Grits. He is a founding board member of In Color Birding Club, which strives to provide a safe and inclusive environment for BIPOC birders and allies in the Philadelphia area and beyond through outreach, education, and bird outings. He is also on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Society for Ornithology, and a Force of Nature volunteer with Natural Lands. Jeff holds a BS in Biology from Loyola University in Maryland.
